we beg to ask... is forever enough?
You asked for more. I gave it to you. An infinite about of time.
Would all of time be enough for you? Eternity stretched out as it spills down your spine. Overpowering your heart in it’s abundance. Blinding your eyes in it’s endless abyss.
When all life has vanished and the sun scorns the earth in regret, this rock would spin as just a sphere of molten metal. A decrepit reminder of all the souls that came before. Would forever have satisfied you then? Long after any human has last walked, you remain. Alone, endlessly drifting into the stoic starlight. Clutching the memorium of all your years filled away into boxes and jars. Filled with infinite memories. The inside of your bags, a collection of the lives that you couldn't hold onto - you ECLIPSE them.
Would it have been enough? Would you have felt satisfied?
Perhaps if you could be granted another person to spend it with, then you could be satiated. When we are alone "forever" contorts time into empty ephemera that bites away at ourselves until simply a void remains. With two souls, perhaps it would fulfil rather than enrapture. Who could you spend forever with? Could then forever be enough for you?
Yet... have you wondered if forever would have waited for you?
Would it have stopped by the roadside for you? Making minutes feel like hours and hours turn into seconds. But it does not care for us. We can only chase back 'forever 'in contempt. For 'forever' does not cry in mortal tears. It can not wait for you. It doesn’t have its patience.
So we must be content with this disconcerting evanescence of life... this amicable consolation entrusted to humanity. Living is defined by its ends... it’s finite finality... emulous with fading beauty.
Because you don’t deserve forever.
Yet we still can sit here and ask - is forever enough?
